The PDF Editor Without the Subscription

"PDF editor" is the search almost everyone types, and it is an honest search with a muddy answer, because the phrase covers two different wishes. Most people who type it want to get a job done: fill the form, sign the paper, join the packet, pull the pages apart. A smaller number want to change the words printed on the page itself — fix a name inside a paragraph, alter a figure in a sentence — as if the PDF were a document still open in a word processor. Those are different jobs, and they deserve different answers.

What most people mean

For everyday life, editing a PDF means handling it: filling its form fields, placing a signature, merging files, splitting them, putting pages in order, stamping DRAFT across a copy, numbering the pages, turning pages upright, pulling the text out to quote it. That work is real editing in the plain sense — the document leaves your hands different from how it arrived, ready to send, file, or print. It is also the work a subscription is hardest to justify for, because it comes in scattered days, not daily hours.

The one thing this tool will not do

No honest browser tool retypes the words on the page. A finished PDF is a printed page in digital form: the words sit in place as part of the page, not as a flowing draft waiting to be corrected. Software that claims to quietly rewrite a paragraph inside any PDF is either rebuilding the page in a way that shifts its look, or overstating what it did. This site will not claim it. If you need a word changed inside a finished PDF, the honest routes are to change the source document it was made from, or to ask whoever sent it for a corrected copy — a small ask that protects you, because a quietly altered page can raise hard questions later.

That single limit is stated up front, on purpose. Everything else on the bench is offered without limits of the usual kind: no account, no task-per-day caps, no file uploaded to a server.

The full bench, instead

  • Merge files into one packet, in your order.
  • Split a file and extract only the pages you need.
  • Organize pages — reorder them, and delete the extras.
  • Rotate sideways pages and fix them for good.
  • Fill forms with real typed fields, and flatten the answers in.
  • Sign with a drawn or typed visual signature, placed on the page.
  • Images to PDF — turn phone photos into one tidy file.
  • PDF to images — save pages as PNG or JPG pictures.
  • Extract text — copy the words out of a text-born PDF.
  • Add page numbers that match the document's own count.
  • Watermark pages DRAFT, COPY, or CONFIDENTIAL, as faint or as bold as you set.

Every tool on that list runs in your browser. Your files are read on your own phone or computer, the job is done there, and the finished file is downloaded back to you. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no copy of your contract or form sitting on a stranger's server afterwards. You can test that claim yourself: start a job, cut the internet, and watch the tool finish anyway.

Why no subscription

A subscription charges for the calendar, not for the work. For scattered-day work, that is a poor trade, and it gets poorer each renewal. So the free bench here is simply free, and the fuller Toolkit — with OCR for scanned pages and structural compression added — is $39, paid once, as of October 2026. Paid once means exactly that: no monthly line on a statement, no renewal to remember, no cancellation to hunt for.

Start on the bench

Work through the free bench at the toolkit page, where every tool is listed together. Bring the form, the packet, or the sideways scan that sent you searching in the first place, and put it right — in your browser, on your device, without signing up for anything.

Try it on the bench

The free tools are open now — one file, one job, no sign-up. See all 11 free tools or start with Merge PDF.
